About Authority Management

Understanding Authorities

Hive uses a hierarchical authority system to secure your account:

  • Posting Authority - For social actions like posting, commenting, voting, and following. Share this with trusted apps and services.
  • Active Authority - For financial transactions like transfers and market orders. Be very careful who you grant this to.
  • Owner Authority - The highest level authority that can change all other keys. Never share this with anyone.

Key Types

This tool displays two types of authorities:

  • Account Authorities - Other Hive accounts that have permission to use your account for specific actions.
  • Public Key Authorities - Cryptographic keys that control access to your account. These are shown for reference only.
